WWOEC

A member in good standing since 2009, no previous adverse disciplinary actions, a weekly (if not daily) contributor of artwork, a weekly or bi-weekly contributor of my own artwork, and (as far as I can tell) a fairly well-liked member of the forum in general.

...and this is how my many years of good deeds are repaid.

The details of which are unimportant and trivial, but...suffice it to say...this is the point at which I wave goodbye to wwoec.

  1. DEMarq: I've never much liked them myself, abit snobbish

    1. Not so much snobbish, as holier-than-thou.

...which is basically the same thing.

    2. DEMarq: Soo they kicked you off because they or an MOD didn't like Mr.Croc's art?!? Well, it's no wonder why Simon and Conoghi left ago time ago, and now they lost IVLS due to his Hey Arnold being leaked and now you...karma is not looking kind on them now. Where ever you go I'll follow you if you give the link sir ^_*

    1. I can't really narrow it down to one particular individual as I tended to visit only a select number of threads on a regular basis. I'm assuming that individual mods control certain threads...or at least that would be the logical approach.

...or it could be a completely free-range cluster-fuck.

      Who knows these things.

  6. Yeah, Roger's communist "we don't have to answer to you" is really annoying. If a rule is shit, we should be able to call it out.

There is no alternative to WWOEC though and getting one off the ground won't happen either, due to finances.

And they just sit on their laurels.

A friendlier mod stance might be in order.

    1. That's despotism...not communism.

I would tend to agree...there is no real (free) substitute for wwoec. Jab's forum comes fairly close, but...yeah....this is internet. Why would anyone in the their right mind pay for content / context in this day and age.

  7. The basic flaw in their logic is that after they've already removed all traces of a particular link or picture everyone is still supposed to know what they've removed (TWICE) so they make an example of some individual who posts or links to it again and people still have no idea what the offending item was.

The place is riddled with poor definitions of subject material and rules that contradict each other. It's no wonder the admins and mods come off looking like jerks when they try to resolve it all.

As for alternatives, let's think on that a bit. In these days of cloud computing, shared spaces, etc. there should be some way to create a viable alternative without the huge cost.

Don't know what you posted that created such ire in the forum but I've certainly enjoyed all your work and will visit here regularly from now on.

Going to leave this as anonymous and hope they don't figure out who I am and ban me as well.

I'm not a huge fan of the old Catch-22. Good book (and movie), but in day-to-day life as it relates to that forum it gets a bit tedious and down right irritating really quickly.

  8. It's a shame to see this happen after 5 years of good sanding, and then giving you a ban for 2 weeks.. (The return date is 9-14-2014.. Frankly I too have been "Temp banned" once on that site for speaking out during "Arpil Fools" about a rather serious issue about a majro Earthqueke that happened on of all days, April Fools..

As for seing you go, well, at least if you can not me on Deviant Art (I'm one of your followers if I can remember the Da Name, but I could send you the latest picture that I had comissioned.. and Frankly I always give you first dibs as it seems no one really cares in taht Gorup to do any color work..

Frankly It's a shame again that after half a decade, and a lot of effor they should reward you like this... Makes me want to tell the mods to pull all the art down I'vve put up there and tell them to go take a hike.. :(

oh well if I can note you some how, I still wouldn't mind sharing the works that I have done, YOu were one of the favorite coloritsts I enjoyed the most..

A certain evil weather doctor keeps tabs on his friends..

Take care and I'll be around if yhou need me..

  10. man, I totally get you.
I was a regular poster on WWOEC. I usually posted up to 5-10 posts a day with pics and such.
and then they did the same thing to me. they banned me like I was some lurker or something.
after that, they removed my ban because they realized that after that a lot of people got banned and it was not good for the forum.
but the thing is, they removed the ban and didn't say shit about it.
    so much for the respect...

    1. Respect. I'm big on that.

Hindsight being 20/20, forums of that nature are pretty much a dying breed. They may (and often do) profess that only the good art shows up their forum, but....yeah, that may have been true a half decade ago. Now however, they're internet dinosaurs...just waiting for the proverbial meteor to hit.

  11. I find it funny that despite the rule that one is not supposed to post real pictures even if they are from a movie poster that some still do it. I saw a certain moderator using many real life pictures for his avatar but yet he is the one banning people.

It is just a clique and if you are not one of them they are against you.

  12. Feel free to post at HF if you want. I think I recall you tried at one point but had to deal with some rather stern rules in regards to colorists etc. Yet things has opened up a little, as long as you clarify who's work you've colored and have permission etc, then it should be fine.

    1. Yeah, I thought about trying there again, but....the rules.

When I left there you damn near had to get a signed document written in blood, in triplicate, and your first born male child in order to post anything there.

Not even sure if I have an active account there anymore.

    2. Generally speaking, the quality standards have dropped as a result of finding a better balance for fairness and equality. It's near impossible from a technical standpoint, yet that's still no reason we can't try to make it as fair as possible.

In terms of colorists, the permission bit we give the benefit of the doubt until someone says otherwise. You still need to mention it in the description; that you've been given permission. Although you also need to provide a working link to the artist, so just in case we run into problem, we can actually contact the artist to verify the permission. Yet I have never seen that happen in my time as a mod at HF, so I doubt you have much to worry about. Plus I think your honest enough, but again, info needs to be listed.

As for quality, that's not an issue in your case. We obviously look for cleanliness etc. It's not strict though. We take style and things into account and you works are clearly on the mark.

    3. Hmmm. I see that my username (phillipthe2) still exists there, but I don't recall the password. When I try to reset the password I don't get an email response.

  13. It appears as though you deleted the account, no doubt over the fuss (which I am sorry for). Hopefully it won't be too troubling to create a new account?
