Lights Are On

Well, the great internet blackout is over, but if you think for even a second that SOPA / PIPA are dead in the water then you are sadly mistaken.  They're still there, lurking in the shadows, like thieves in the night.  Keep in mind that these pieces on legislation were put together by lobbyists from the music, movie, and television industries....not internet technologists...people who have little if any comprehension of the far-reaching implications of their actions / greed. Simply put, money is the driving force behind Congress, not the will of the people....always has been, always will be....and, irregardless of how much they bellyache about losing money to piracy,  these industry giants ain't hurting for cash.  Put the power of the people on one end of the scale...and their check book on the other.  See which one comes up short.

Patriot Act - 2.0

If you're reading this...you're reading it on a blog that could potentially be effected by PROTECT IP / SOPA.  Me, I refuse to be a victim of what I consider to be the internet version of the Patriot Act.  Essentially SOPA and PIPA require web sites to monitor it's individual users (myself for example) to insure that they don't link to sites that infringe upon other parties' intellectual property rights and/or host infringing content themselves.  If however, one single, solitary infringing link or piece of content is found the powers that be could in turn force (in the worst case scenario), not the individual user offline, but the entire website offline.  The powers that be would like you to believe that they are protecting us from the evils of foreign copyright infringers, but both pieces of legislation are so vaguely worded that just about any form of infringement could be construed as a violation...irregardless of it's county of origin.

We're not just talking pirated movies and top ten singles here.  Do you like fanart posted on various forums, websites and blogs (to include this one)?  Well, guess what...that's a shit-ton of copyrighted material.  How about free internet pr0n?  Yeah, now you're gettin' the picture.

I've written all of my Congressmen (both in the US House and the Senate) and....well, to be quite honest, I've lost track of how many online petitions I've signed since early this morning.

Non-Brony

It's no secret that I absolutely hate, loath, and despise My Little Pony and MLP:FIM.  Seeing as I'm not (as the stereotype would dictate) a 30-something year old IT professional who's been unemployed for the past two years, do not live in my parents basement, and have more important things to do than sit around watching  / jerking off to cartoons all day....no 'Brony' am I.

Call it what you will, make all the intellectual inferences you want, defend them until you're blue in the face, but I know that MLP:FIM is much the same as it was in the 1980s....just a passing fad.

In the mean time, until the wheels finally fall off the bandwagon and everybody jumps off to glom onto the next retro-fad...

Irregardless of any loathing or hatred, sometime you just gotta suck it up and do it....lame, half-ass, and down-right shitty attempts at Dr Manhattan and Rorschach as they may be.  Call it "fan service" if you like.  These two are also on (flings pony poo) deviantART, for those so inclined.

Black Canary

Outside of a few select characters and titles, I've never really been the biggest fan of DC.  Hell, I've never even read Birds of Prey.  The plain truth of the matter is I like coloring Shon Howell's stuff, irregardless of the subject matter.  Just don't ask me to color that My Little Pony shit.  I loathed it in the '80s...and do you know what's changed since then?  Not one gawd-damned thing.

Oh, in other news...it would seem that my (scratches ball sack) deviantART page crossed over the 6k views mark last night.  How very.....underwhelming.

Intergalactic Relations

Just goofin' around, killin' two birds with one stone....never done Judy Jetson nor a tentacle monster before.

I didn't really intend for this to be my first post of the new year, but seeing as I've got three or four things in the works (and none of them are near completions) that's just the way it worked out.
