Dr Girlfriend - Film Noir

I was watching the Venture Bros season four episode "Everybody Comes to Hank's" (in which Hank discovers his inner film noir private dick) and thought to myself, who in the VB cast embodies such attitude and sexiness?

...'cause it sure as hell ain't Hank Venture.

Generally speaking, "film noir" are stylistic crime dramas with cynical attitudes and sexual overtones...mostly from the '40s and '50s.  Most are high-end B-flicks that portray a hardboiled private detective hired (to track down a murderer, kidnapper, etc) by some good looking, socialite dame/broad who has attitude to match.  Throw in a few tommy guns, a double or triple-cross, some 1920s era gangsters, a dirty cop or two....and there you go.

This one's also on (requires Heimlich Maneuver) deviantART and Hentai Foundry.

    Ps.
    Another great job here.

  2. HD2: Thanks. Yeah, I was explaining to someone that it's blogger's "report abuse" that is to blame...kind of like deviantART's. The more people you attract, the more that are apt to hit said report link.
Actually, I saw a widget somewhere that will get rid of that top navbar entirely. I can't remember where I saw it though. If most of the trolls can't actually hit the report link, the likelihood of them seeking out google/blogger to report something is far less likely.....they're just lazy like that.

  3. Most of my noir exposure came c/o Frank Miller's "Sin City" series & various other comic references, the odd paperback, and a VHS copy of "The Maltese Falcon" with our man Humphrey Bogart, so I get the idea, suspect as most of my sources may be. That said, Dr. G's Jackie-O duds, personality & smokers' voice fit the bill as well as anything in the Ventureverse...though Brock & Molotov would take to Miller's brutal style like gators to a billabong.

Anyhow, slick pic-the artist clearly knows this subject, and your "decolor" fits.

  4. Anon: Ehhh, Maltese is a little too high budget, but its still a classic noir. I'm thinking more along the lines of The Naked City....the sort of thing that Guy Noir: Private Eye (from public radio's A Prairie Home Companion) is parody'd on. ...and yes, I actually listen to public radio on a regular basis.

  5. Hey, no shame in rocking the NPR...lord knows it paints a clearer picture than any amount of FOX News, and Garrison Keilor's skits are good for a chuckle or two. Basically the audio equivalent of Calvin & Hobbes' "Tracer Bullet" spoof...which, if you squint at the art style, might've been ripping on Sin City itself. Talk about degrees of parody.

Speaking of Venture-types who'd fit right into the Millerverse: Hank & Dean's unhinged ex-bodyguard mom(?). Shudder.

  6. Anon: Millerverse / Venture crossover characters...hmmm. "Mommy" Venture for sure....how about Sgt Hatred? Militant (ex)pedophile just screams miller to me. Better still...Action Johnny.

  7. Yeah, those seething malcontent powder-kegs ('specially Johnny) more than fit the bill...and come to think of it, Brock's harder-than-hardcase transvestite former commander is certainly bent enough. Don't suppose Phantom Limb would work as an actual multiple-amputee information broker?

...yeah, I'm starting to scare myself here.

  8. Anon: Phantom Limb....sure, but without the "killer touch" thing. Not a whole lot of mysticism / super powers floating around the Millerverse. Maybe as a multi-amputee info broker with a chainsaw, but that's a little tooooo Army of Darkness.
