Menacing Tree Hugger

A friend of mine emailed me after doing the Rage Grenade / Hi and Lois pieces expressing his dislike of Sunday morning newspaper comics standbys being "disrespected in such a manner".  Well, there's where his line of thinking ends and mine begins.  Any comic strip, irregardless of it's age and/or respectability, that relies upon a delivery medium that has effectively raped our planets forests since the time of Industrial Revolution demands a little disrespect from time to time.

Now, don't get me wrong....I'm not some sort of ultra-environmentalist hippie who runs around in Birkenstocks and hemp-made clothing while spouting the evils of corporate America and promoting drug legalization until I'm blue in the face.  Far from it in fact.  My comic books collection alone probably killed at least ten or twenty acres of timber....not to mention working in an industry that relies solely upon turning fossil fuel into wind and noise for amusement, corporate promotion, and/or transportation convenience for the wealthy elite.

Honestly though, who (other than the eldest generations) actually reads the newspaper anymore?  I don't.  So, in keeping with the whole disrespecting aging comic strips sentiment, here's a little something from 'Dennis the Menace' and 'Family Circus':
